Hi marshian

I would advise you not to buy a lift pass. If the four free lifts are the ones I'm thinking of (the drag lifts?) there's a very good chance you'll be more than happy on them for at least 3 days, possibly more. They are very nice slopes and long too, not just little nursery slopes. It'll save you a fortune. It's very easy to buy passes out there and your teacher will tell you when/if you need them.

As for ski hire, I'd check your location and go for the nearest. The village is very fragmented and it can be extremely inconvenient if you go for the wrong shop [as we did ].

You'll have a blast, great place to learn

what terrible news.
I really hope that the holiday makes up for it and they're reunited with luggage and, more importantly, new skis as soon as possible.
keep us informed.

I took lessons there when I first started skiing. I think it was about £100 for a week.

Ah, i didnt know about the one in Sunderland.
I did google Dry and indoor slopes, but didnt get anything that close.
I will look into it, thanks.

I'd check their rules before you make the trip, at the snow slopes in MK and Hemel you have to be able to link turns safely and use a drag lift before they let you on there and you can only use the nursery slope if you're having a lesson with them.
can you sleep with your legs straight or do you need to angle them out to the side?
if you're comfortable with them straight then it's not ligaments.
fingers crossed for you.

Have a fab time. I'll raise a glass to you on your birthday
I agree, if you can get a good deal I'd jump at it.
I've never done any of their winter holidays but have done quite a few summer ones and they are one of the better companies.
I reckon the standard would be pretty similar across the board.

but would these guys?

I know you mention Austria but what about Italy? The Sella Ronda would keep every ability happy I reckon.
