isn't it funny. We were in a totally alien situation, mr-a took lots of photos and showed me the beer shot, I thought of you but can't think for one moment why . He absolutely loved that bar and would've gone there every day.
the animal is also in pic number three but I never noticed it until uploading today

My cheapest ski holiday ever is in the Dolomites in March. France is mostly, but not always, extortionate.

Hochgurgl is very like that, in fact, it's very hard to tell where the pistes are. The day I lost the family was after doing a run where we got into a bit of a tight spot, we did it again and I was told to go left. I got to the top of a left which turned out to be an unpisted but well tracked steep section and I was just about to set off down it but thought I'd wait to see the boys appear somewhere down it first, which they didn't. After a few minutes of umming and ahhing I decided to go straight ahead where I found them round the corner. We all agreed in the chalet that the signposting wasn't great, however, you can ski all over without getting into any danger.
The Ski Helmet Debate

Baillie, that's quite a story. I hope you recovered 100%. I'm assuming you bought a new helmet?

A guy we met in our chalet started wearing a helmet after a bad fall on piste, hitting his head on a tree and having to have stitches leaving blood all over the snow. Things like this can change your mind I suppose.

OH NO! You poor thing. Does it come under force majeure in the insurance policy?
Hopefully you are currently frantically and successfully finding an alternative route.
Good luck

Stolen Skis

really sorry Jonah, that's naff.
Unfortunately, I don't think theft is limited to privately owned skis as (I think I've said before) my 11 year old son's rental skis were nabbed in Les Arcs. We were told that we still had to go to the police even if you have the hire shop's insurance. In the end, what with excess, it was easier to pay the extra 30 odd euros
