Les Arcs??

I loved les arcs.

We stayed in 1800 and found a couple of brilliant bars and three restaurants that we absolutely loved. Only down side for me is that the area at the bottom of the main slopes isn't that lovely, the bars don't look onto the slopes and it's very uneven so you keep falling off your chair!

I only got one day on the mountain before i got injured but got over to 1950 and had a fantastic lunch.

Rest of the family got to ski the whole area, very rarely skiing the same run twice, and we're all dying to go back. Me particularly so I can fly down and laugh in the face of the bump that caused my injury!
When did you start skiing

I've just read that back and would like to point out that my boys (now 7 and 11) would actually be skiing with their dad/my husband and not alone while I'm at the bar!

2006 aged 36.

always felt that skiing had defeated me and wanted to give it a go since my mum and dad were sit-around-the-pool types (and still are).

unfortunately i've now got more fear than i would have had at the age of 10 so I started my boys at the age of 5 and 9 and i keep telling them how lucky they are that they haven't got lazy parents! (and I wait in a bar for them at the bottom of the more difficult slopes.)
Ski school Val Thorens bad experience

haven't been to val thorens yet but hope to one day to ski my namesake peak.
can tell you that neither I nor my children will ski esf again after an experience last year in alp d'huez. 5 children in a private lesson, one day the instructor told my 6 yr old son to ignore his nose bleed and on another day he told his cousin to go to the toilet in his pants
not good!

No, haven't had my skates on yet, but I've got a long sloping driveway so will be taking Trenchers advice in a couple of weeks. Planning to cycle this weekend, nice and easy - won't try to keep up with my boys! Love the wobble board. Really appreciate all the advice.
Saw physio again today who reckons it's 50-60% healed with 7 and a half weeks to go until Tignes.... :D :D :D

I feel your pain.
Apparently 90% of snowboarders are doing it wrong!
Only thing I could tell you for sure is that physio really helps.
Hope it goes ok

Thanks Tony. I know how it happened - trying to keep up with my two tearaways and husband! I'll definitely stick to my own pace in future.
I've got a two hour private lesson booked on the first day in Tignes so I think that will really help me. Also, it's with a big group so I can ski with people more at my level.
It's really sore today, my physio has told me there's a fine line between doing enough and too much so I think I'm being too keen.
I replied to your Obergurgl/Hochgurgl post yesterday. Did you decide against it?
