I went skiing this weekend. Skied maybe for 1 hour just to tick the box. Good to make turns but I prefer turning on snow that feels less like concrete. Supposed to get colder this week and hopefully it will start snowing soon too.

The problem at the moment is that it's too warm. We have 14C at 1000m this week, and it's the last week of November. There is snow to ski, but base is quite thin. Friends went to VT for the opening weekend and while Saturday was good, they said that on Sunday it was clear that a big top-up was needed. Hopefully weather changes soon. A temperature drop and a two-day storm would change the picture completely.

You can ski in Chamonix, there used to be a bus. Check with the local tourist office.

No need to panic. Best seasons that I had slopes were still mostly brown in the beginning of December. Worst seasons - they were all white by mid-November.

14 days. Pack already and moved one pair of skis. Time to start getting excited.

yes, it's happening. Verbier opens this weekend. Only one rather small area, but still. A friend skied powder in Saas-Fee yesterday.
