Found this chap in our garden this morning. Problem is, he brought a bed with him and he's put it in the living room. He's got bowls for his food in the kitchen and expects me to take him out every day.

Tried getting mine in my hold luggage bag and wouldn't fit (small bag). What I did was pack the inside of the boots with socks, hats etc. I wrapped the outside in bubble wrap and then filled in the bag with base layers, salos etc.
All arrived with no damage.

and I can tell you that you have just described obergurgl/hochgurgl to a tee my friend :D

Am much better now. Landed heavily which caused bad bruising to my ribs. Consequently, as I was trying to do my turns I was compensating to avoid pain which put me off balance and caused more falls. Wasn't helped that the initial fall took my instructor out who landed on top of me!! Pretty girl though. Have had a bagful of pain killers for 10 days and am almost back to normal.

On the subject of destinations. Obergurgl & Hochgurgl were on my list of places to research a bit more

So now this year's trip has been and gone, where do we go next?

Austria is our choice for next year. OH and I are both of a similar standard. We ski blues confidently and would have progressed to reds this year if it hadn't been for my fall and consequent rib injury.
Have skied Grindelwald for the last two years and like the fact that you can do plenty on non ski days of which I had a few forced on me this year.

Need a resort with intermediate skiing for us and something for the in laws to progress on to. They don't ski much but I think they need some nice easy green runs rather than being stuck on a nursery slope all week.

Usually stay in a hotel doing half board; in laws like a pool aswell. Apres ski isn't a huge must, couple of beers and that's about it.

We prefer to fly from Exeter as we're in deepest Cornwall so arrival airport is Salzburg or Innsbruck.

Over to you guys & girls now and I've got a sweep on how many times N is suggested!

Must be the new thing with Crystal. Our 'customer service representative' rang us from Grindelwald to ask if we had any queries before we left. I've nothing but praise for Crystal. Have used them for all of our trips and when the poo hit the spinny thing they've always been spot on.
Whilst on the topic I have to complement First Choice Airways / Thomson / Crystal / TUI for their handling of our scary flight home last weekend. 90 mph winds and an aborted landing at 50ft above Exeter runway meant a diversion to Gatwick and a scary landing there. We were off the plane, baggage collected, meal vouchers issued and coach times confirmed within half an hour of landing. Yes, it was a huge inconvenience to be at the wrong side of the country but, we were safe, fed and in the UK. Spot on service and thanks to Swissport for the airport handling side of stuff.

You try skiing that course at around 80mph! Respect to him. He will get better. He is only 22 which is still young for a WC downhiller, especially British. That course is only run once per year as are most WC Downhills. They all have to be learned and it takes many years to do so. Look at the average age of the top WC Downhillers. About 30+
Give him a chance please.

Of course I will give him a chance and I understand that you are involved with racing in some way so will probably be more defensive than the norm but I was just saying how he looked. I just didn't think he looked particularly solid (for a British skier.... or an Austrian skier..... or an American).

I did not profess I could ski the course at 80mph, that would be a bit daft considering I haven't devoted my life to racing. Good on him for having the balls to do it.

I hope he gets better and does very well! Whether that comes with experience or not who knows.

Having stood on, above and around the Lauberhorn course last week, anyone who skis it from the Bode Millar right down to the newbies deserves a medal. It is a scarily harsh course. Narrow, icy, fast, steep, etc etc.
Several racers were so spent they couldn't stop properly at the bottom and that was on practice day.
