Have you looked on e-bay to see if someone is selling a similar jacket?
Size wouldn't matter, you only want the buttons.
I feel for you - got to be worth finding buttons before a trip to the ski shops for a new outfit is suggested.

Not really - I just found groups of 80 or so SCGB'ers together somewhat different from the more usual skiers (note use of "more usual" instead of normal  such care about language does me proud).
Synchronised pre-ski warm up sessions with Herr Grupenfuehrer leading was a sight worth seeing and did attract crowds to observe and learn.
:D
Anyway this thread is about first snow falls mustn't wibble off topic.

Me too
Daren't write it for fear of perjury or slander or defamation or whatever!

When SCGB groups stayed with me they were always slow starters
So who fancies skiing Everest then?

Not my type of place really ...
Doesn't look ski in ski out and I couldn't see any signs of nice little hostelleries for a rest or restorative!
Otherwise .....

Chamonix first timer

Well Brian,
I would say the world is your oyster - with just a bit of thought and research.
No idea if Chamonix would suit, I've only been there in the summer amd I prefer a ski station to a town for my skiing hols.
How about deciding which country is your favourite?
Language preference etc etc.
Then having a chat with GF to find out what parts of a holiday are most important for you both - luxury accomodation, self catering, chalet etc.
Do you value the ski in ski out idea or is a bit of a walk or bus journey OK?
Do you like to really put in the miles skiing or are you happy with less miles to ski and the opportunity to get to know a smaller area well?
I could go on but won't now, I'm sure you will get lots of ideas from the forum and lots to think about.
Good luck

Excellent idea
You are after glacier skiing which will be limited but can be fun.
Just choose your country of choice and have a look at which glaciers will be open. Do check that the skiing is open as resorts vary as to what and when skiing is possible.
For example (and the only glacier I have skied) Tignes will be open during October. Whether anything more than the glacier, runs back to resort level for example, is open is in the lap of the snow gods ...
But do expect some varied weather - can be anything from horrific to gorgeous.
have fun and good luck.
