Skiing clothing

Slippers !! :lol:
Absolutely essential.
Nothing worse than getting back to the ski room, exhausted, aching, tired, hot/cold (delete for season) or even drun* from the apres ski (obviously talking about others here - not J2'ers, non of whom would ever risk spoiling their skiing by over indulgance) etc etc etc
And after struggling to get those d*** boots off having to bend down to tie shoe laces or pull on shoes/boots.
:thumbup:
Top tip this one.

Plus I get to try different ones if the weather changes. Personally for me I would have to ski a fair bit more :-)

My view as well.
Haven't used my own skis since old fashioned long and skinny skis were replaced by carvers 12/14 years ago.
Love hiring good quality skis and swapping them to try something different as the conditions dictate.
I am interogating ski hire shops for next march in Serre Chevalier as I fancy trying the Salomon BBR (coz they look daft) and the Dynastar outlander as well.
Used the Sultan legend last April and they were gorgeous.
Ski Boot Insoles

I use these - Sorbothane Sorbo-Pro Total Control Insoles

In my ski boots, walking boots, work boots and things.
I have a funny problem on the ball of my left foot that means it needs some support and these work brilliantly.
Very supportive foot bed and a sensible price too.
Socks!

Lota is absolutely correct IMHO, clean socks help with general hygiene and help prevent blisters.
But .......
Wickers is totally correct as well IMHO !!! :mrgreen:
My feet don't seem to sweat, my boots never need all this drying on boot dryers and air blowers and shenanigins. Take 'em off, leave them in the boot room, put them back on - job done.

Perhaps it is as simple as that?

If you have sweaty feet change your socks daily. If not change them annually :thumbup:

Next week looks like freeze/thaw down to about 1700m (French Alps) and a little snow forecast.
Anyone know what temp. is needed to get the snow cannons working?
Once they can lay down some artificial to get a base things will look up as any new snow will lay better.
In my view the resort that is best set up for nervous/novice skiers is Courchevel 1850.
It is littered with green and blue runs and dedicated novice areas - the Pralong is huge and fenced off to stop bombers rushing through.
Although it has the reputation of being uber expensive it doesn't have to be.
The attraction for me has been with children and a non skiing OH - I can dive off onto something good really quickly and then scoot back to meet up.
So - I get in my skiing as well as looking after the others.

When is the white stuff gonna come??

Does seem a slow start this year, but have wondered if it is just me and mild paranoia, after all I have only 116 days for the snow to arrive before I need it :lol:

So .....
I looked at the snow history on snow-forecast for Tignes for this week over the last few years. The resort per see isn't open yet but the glacier is and the run back down to Val Claret should be open. I saw a few brave souls skiing back down last week, but not now I don't suppose.
2010 - runs to resort = closed, open from 11th
2009 = open
2008 = closed, open from 20th
2007 = closed, open from 3rd December!
2006 = closed, open from 22nd
So it looks like 3rd week of November is an average of when the runs back from 3000m to 2100m are open.
Quite reassuring.
It looks like a very warm week over the French Alps with freeze level well above 3000m :thumbdown:
But ....
It does then look like much colder weather arriving from next week - fingers etc. :lol:
