You can check camp de base in Le Chable. It's fairly basic b&b, but conveniently located. You can find them on booking.com. Also there is a small b&b in town, fairly central by coop, my friend stayed there over New Years couple season ago and paid less that 170 pounds, I think it was about 150 Swiss for the room per night. I will try to get the number of him.

It's definitely getting colder and slopes were less icy today. Around 3 pm lot of clouds arrived but whether they bring any snow remains to be seen. I do hope for lot of snow as next week is even busier than the Christmas week and snow is needed to open more terrain to let crowds spread out more across the slopes. Merry Christmas everyone and whoever is heading up this weekend don't forget to sharpen your edges and control your speed. Somebody already died this week in Verbier after a skiing accident.

Looking at webcams and snow reports is pointless unless you are doing it close to the time of your holidays. What is happening now is very unlikely to have relevance to what will be happening in a month time. Just chillax, you are going on holidays in the mountains, end of. Look at webcams a week or maybe two before, check the forecast for the week you will be there and don't stress now needlessly. Challenging but skiable conditions at the moment, but who knows what it will be like in a month time???

Well, the term is "climate change" and it's happening indeed even if slowly (luckily for us). |

Never been to the village itself but I know that it's close to Sion. As for skiing terrain is shared with Verbier so pretty much snow-sure.

Yup, best skiing is from 9 till 10 and also from 12 till 14 when people are having lunch after that carnage begins. Conditions are ok but extremely crowded.

I read somewhere that in 80 years there probably won't be possible to ski anywhere in the Alps due to climate change. So we should consider ourselves lucky. Future generations won't have it that good.

Yup, rain last week and generally warm days made it very spring-like. Grass looks very fresh and green. Foehn is blowing currently. Another cold spell is expected soon but it might be another high-pressure system, snow is needed. Quite a lot fell last week but it was followed by rain all the way up to 2700 meters so conditions are challenging. And until it snows they will persist.
