Composite 'Snow Chains' by Michelin

Having lived in the alps last season and doing the shopping run down the mountain I only ever used a set of chains once because the snow tyres on the van were so effective, I was truly amazed the difference they made have driven one of the other vans without winter tyres. So if you have good quality snow tryes you more than likely won't use any chains you buy. I have invested in a all season tyre Goodyear vector 4 which tested as good a snow tyre but doesn't loss the grip or wear at higher temperatures like a snow tyre.

Fly to Turin the milky way and sauze d`oulx is only an hour by train and 2 season ago the train was only €11 and €10 for the bus from the airport. Not sure what the snow will b like then but March 21 week will be cheaper as there are on school holidays

If you can ski avoid Bulgaria all together! It may be cheap but there isn't a lot of skiing when conditions are good let alone if they aren't, first country I skied in did Bansko and borovets in my first week of skiing and yes que`s are bad
Chalet holiday but on a budget.

Silverski have amazing last minute deals, I worked for them last season. In January last season they had deals from £199 la plagne has some amazing pisted runs but even better off piste and is very snow sure they are also offering flights from Manchester this season
Having spent the winter living in La Plagne and skiing 6 days a week I will give my run down by month!!

When we arrived at the beginning of December there was loads and loads of snow but it was melting quickly due to the high temperatures and on the first day of the season I skied in a soft shell in the morning and a T shirt later on.
we had a slight dusting of snow just before Christmas, the week between Christmas and new year was very snowny.

January started warm and dry but soon turned cold and started to dump it down and it pretty much carried on till just before half term, from then on the temperatures were high and it was fairly dry.
March saw a few fair size dumps but it was generally warm with often no night freeze slopes were slushy from the off by the end of March and April temperatures over 15 degrees were common at 2000 meters.

Les Arc's slopes didn't hold up to well to the warm weather and we didn't venture over that often towards the end of the season.
