Hi All
I never considered a Helmet before but with the statistics about people being killed or seriously damaged without them I am now looking around, but know nothing about them. Austria have just brought in a law that al children under 14 MUST wear them and that is for no reason.... Any tips on buying a helmet, must haves, brands, nice to haves etc etc Regards |

Hi Sorry forgot there is also a slope called Zwolferhorn at St Gilgen (only down the road from you) http://www.12erhorn.at
I don't think the ski pass for Postalm and Dachstein West work here though, but it is really close.... |

If you haven't been in a few years I would recommend a day or two in Postalm - it is also beautiful and staff are really friendly.
Gosau then for the more challenging slopes. Although it connects to Russbach by ski lifts and their slopes are more like it for me anyway(:) I found Gosau slope tricky but then I have only been sking for a few weeks) I will be going on 24th Feb for a week so let's keep the fingers crossed for a big dump of snow!! you can buy a Ski pass in Postalm for both Postalm and Dachstein West area (Gosau, Russbach etc) but be sure to ask for the double pass as it is a couple of euro more for this. Have a great holiday! |

HI - I am not even at the level of the first "poster" (done 3 weeks on snow) and definitely can relate to "braking" all the way down the mountain on my last trip a few weeks ago!! Sorry good guys :)
So please please please - I would recommend spending the €75 for a two hour lesson one-on-one I have the Klaus Mair DVD and it is great to remind you of what you are doing wrong but is no replacement for a one-on-one lesson me thinks. |

Hi I had the same issue with my Mam in Andorra a few years ago - she didn't want to ski but couldn't go further than the main station at the gondola. But then my folks discovered Austria!!!.....
They go both summer and winter and certainly in the Dachstein region (http://en.winter.dachstein.at/) all chairs are open to non-skiers. Great place by the way!! people lovely, no major queues for the Ski rental (mostly locals with their own gear), and fantastic facilities. so good we are going again 24th Feb. Of course from a photography point of view great views too.. Enjoy whatever and wherever you choose. |
