Bandit do you think the guys in resort are proper fitters? My wife and I are going to buy our own boots this year. We'll probably go for a rental pair that have only had a season or so's use. She's got very slim ankles so we always have problems getting rental boots that fit.

Aha so you should take them on as hand luggage, I see.

So why can't I ever "place your ski boots in general "stow" baggage."?
I was planning on buying some boots in resort this year and bringing them home in my regular luggage. My mother in law's boyfriend takes his boots in his regular luggage all the time. Is there something I'm missing? I always assumed it was a big airline scam to make you pay more money to check boots in separately. Ta! |

My experience has been the shops that the TO's use tend to be very busy and I have felt that I don't get the proper advice or service. They just slap some boots on you, stand some skis next to you to see how tall you are and shout "Next!"
The last few years I've been pre-booking through Ski Set (http://www.skiset.co.uk/j2ski/). They use smaller, independent shops where you get a much better service from usually local skiers rather than British teenagers working the season. Cheers Steve |

Just came back from the Italian lakes and it was a freakishly hot 36 degrees! The locals said there was normally snow on the mountain tops this time of year but I was up there in a t-shirt, sweating like a wrestler.

of course I mean Soll. |

Solo was amazing when we just left. Wish I could have stayed another week. There was about 2 inches of fresh powder and it was heavily snowing as we did the last run home.

That's best news I've had all week. Flight in 15 hours. WooHoo! |
