Nothing wrong with that. I have to verbalise every movement. My wife thinks I'm a right wally.

As a bit of a novice or "early intermediate" I only learnt to pole plant last year and it made a massive difference.

It was a bit like switching on a light. It increased my control, confidence and subsequent speed. To me the key to skiing seems to be about keeping the rhythm of your movements smooth and the pole plant helps beat time to that rhythm.

I like the thinking but that plan is just not compatible with my wife's dream of a new kitchen one day. She loves to ski but she also wants a new kitchen. I think 2 holidays is enough.

I found loads of goggles in TK Max which just fitted over my normal specs thus elimitating the need for prescription ones.

It worked for me cos I had wrap around style glasses which had a bit of flex in the frames.

I looked at Bulgaria this year and on this forum everyone seems completely split down the middle of thinking it was absolutely fantastic or complete hell on skis! Plus the transfer times put my better half off.

Thanks for the tips! I'm trying to hold on until the last minute to try and get the best, true last minute deal. I'm relying on the credit crunch meaning the operators will be desparate to fill flights and hotels.

Fingers crossed its not Bulgaria.

Ok so after about 4 weeks of nagging and pestering and generally behaving like a 4 year old I have finally convinced my wife to let us go skiing not just in January to Soll with her family but that we can also go skiing for Christmas!

I've had to promise to buy anything stupid for 6 months and I have been saving like there was a recession on (doh).

So I've got enough money provided I can find a super, rock bottom, ultra discounted last minute deal.

Does anyone have any top tips or suggestions for where I might find a bargain package and the best time to book it. We want to go 20th-27th Dec and we don't want to go to Bulgaria, but other than that I don't care as there seems so be decent snow everywhere.

All help and any anecdotal evidence of said deals gratefully received!

Thanks

Steve
