Someone once gave me a great bit of advice which was if you're losing control make like you're reading the paper sat on the loo. Your arms go out, your weight goes forward and suddenly you're in control.
I also talk to myself, especially at speed or on a tricky slope. I narrate what the instructor would be telling me to do as I go down. "Up! Plant and Dooooown" etc. Finally in order to keep my legs together I practice just brushing the material of my ski trousers together. Everyone's got their own quirks and strategies. It might be worth paying for an hour or two of private tuition. My wife and I try and get an hour in each time we go. You'll learn a new tip each time. Cheers! Steve |

My wife and I went there for Christmas two years ago. We stayed in Reberty 1850 and loved the fact we could pretty much ski in and out. The run down to St Martin is great for beginners to have a nice long cruise with a vin chaud at the bottom.
Christmas was great, we opened some pressies and then hit the slopes straight away. Loads of great runs but the long roads back from VT can get very crowded at around 4pm when everyone is trying to get back. Even the greens get narrow so there are bottle necks. The biggest downside was the price of a beer. If you like a drink at lunchtime take out a 2nd mortgage. |

I heard that the people who run the little music bar have fallen out with the hotel and there won't be any music in the Post this year. Apparently it all kicked off at the end of last season. For that reason we're off to Kitz this year instead.
Hope they've patched it up though cos the Post is brilliant. |

Thanks Dave,
Our flight home is at 7.30pm so I'm hoping the TO will give us the day in Kitz to catch the race proper. Are the slopes busy in the lead up or is it just like a regular week for recreational skiers? Ta Steve |

Anyone been to Kitz during the Hahnenkamm Downhill weekend?
Are the slopes super busy or is everyone there purely to watch the race? I've just booked a week in Kirchberg on 14th Jan. Cheers! Steve |

It looks like they've cut all the flights from Cardiff this year. Must be a recession thing.

So my dilema is get properly fitted in the UK and buy new boots over here, probably for less money or get them in resort. The problem is if I buy them here I can't then ski in them until I go on hols so how will I know if they fit properly. At least in resort you can ski in them and they if they're not right go back and have them adjusted.
Any advice would be great! Thanks Steve |

Great advice, thanks Bandit. We'll probably head to Austria or Italy this year. Maybe Zell am See, Obergurgl.
