Hiya,

The funicular is a short 10 minute walk from the Train Station.

Hi,

The trip from Bourg-St-Maurice up to the lifts at Les Arcs 1600 takes around 7 minutes, at the top the ski lifts are about a 50 yard walk from there.

Staying down in BsM you can make good savings on apartment costs and also eatng out is somewhat cheaper etc, it's just a case of hunting around for where to stay, I suppose it mainly depends on what kind of break you are looking for.

Also Tignes Le Brevieres is ok if alittle cold and bleak in early winter.

Hi,

I used BensBus last December for a change ( I normally hire a car at Geneva ) and found them excellent and at £73 return Geneva - Bourg St Maurice - Geneva couldn't faultthem.

Will definitely use them again for my pre xmas trip to Bourg.

Hi,

Not sure if she still does but Chemmy used to get sponsorship from Whitan Investments, ( I think it's spelt correctly ), also she appears in the Colmar advert, the sexy blonde who goes from being semi dressed to out on the slopes MMmmmmm.....sorry mind wandered.

I read somewhere that her advert work, etc generates around £2,000,000 in sales for the various companies, but have no idea what Chemmy herself receives financially .

But wish her all the best none the same.

Hi All,

Sorry I've been absent for a while....

There is an organization ( kind of a volunteer group , will try to dig out the name ) which picks a resort each year to clean up after the holiday season is over, to clean up under the lifts...

apart from the usual , phone's , rings, watches, poles , lighters , gloves etc under one lift the year before last they collect over 30,000 cigarette butt's.....amazing and a little disgusting at the same time.

.....nearing the big 40 this year......I don't bounce and bend as well as I used to, but on the plus side I don't fall over much now.

driving from Chamonix to Val d'Isere
Started by User in France, 5 Replies
Hi,

On leaving Chamonix and hitting the motorway, you want the following, Chamonix - Annecy - Albertville - Moutiers - Bourg-Saint-Maurice then up the road to Tignes then Val D'Isere.

Or alternatively, Chamonix to Annecy ( but stay on the motorway A41 ) and go past Annecy onto Chambery - Albertville - Moutiers - Bourg-Saint-Maurice then again just head up the hill past the dam at Tignes Les brevieres and onto Val D'Isere.

All the best and a safe trip, should take about 3-1/2 to 4 hrs depending on traffic and weather conditions.
