Taken me ages to get the details of the operation I had on my foot from my own Doctor!!
It was a Chevron Osteotomy to the first digit on my right foot, so armed with that I will see if I can get an appointment with Cem to see if that could have any bearing on my yearly agony!! Streuth it creeping up again, yippee!! |

I accept that it is a poor video, but it was the first time i have ever seen myself ski, that with other clips taken on the same trip. Its amazing how quickly u can see your own faults when they are filmed. At least now seeing them for myself I can relate to them and try and do something about it. 'Upright' I know, I have been told that loads of times, but its only when u see it for yourself!!!
50 and never to old to learn!! |

Getting back to the main theme of the thread
http://www.sofaskischool.com/Titel%20neu.htm Highly recommend the video, dont just trust me have a look at the web site and you will see positive feefback from all over the globe. For the good intermediate skiers that cannot see themselves improving, I defy you to not better your technique by buying this DVD. You will straight away see yourself in some of the 'Bad habit' examples Klaus demonstrates. |

Not long now, its creeping up. bet your exited.
Schladming had its first proper dump of snow in the middle of October which is early for anywhere. :D |

I can vouch for Schladming being a good ski area, and is very popular with Hungarians. Cannot help about budget accomadation though.

Trencher, you are quite right, the pole planting query has nothing to do with carving and as such I should have posted it on another thread, but hey I have got peoples attention.
AllyG, yes the swinging shoulders is connected to it im sure and its something else I must eliminate. Brave for posting it, not really, my identity is safe!! The jacket might be a give a way if someone sees me in Soll. Doh done it again. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LirlKR45R4 I have taken your hint, and posted an example of my bad technique. I will wait for all the additional critism about everything else I am doing wrong. If the link does not work it is entitled 'My poor pole planting'. Straight away I can see that I hold my poles to far apart!! Don't ask for help and you won't get it. |

Its that time of year when like many I start looking forward to my skiing holiday in January in Soll. Thought I would bump this thread back to the top as I found it a very useful tool for a good intermediate skier.
[u]Request for Advice or a Drill Last year for the first time I had a friend video as I came down and I was quite impressed with my technique apart from one aspect. Sticks!! My mates gave up shouting to me about them a couple of years and I thought I had cracked it!! From the filming from behind it was quite apparent that although my stick holding position was correct my delivernce even in easy terrain was wrong. Hard to decribe but hear goes, when I plant my pole I seem to use the hand and arm in a boxing hook action as opposed to a boxing jab and lean which causes me to use my shoulders far more than I should. Get around most hazards but as u can imagine my poor pole technique is amplified the harder the terrain. If anyone has any good drills to encourage me not to look at times as if I am skiing like a bar room brawler I will be very grateful. From the help I got from Klaus' video I do believe you can teach an old dog new tricks. |
