Tony-H if youve never been to Soll, then why would you automatically dismiss it, unless because of the altitude you think it not suitable for beginners.
I'm going with friends there in January, admitted we can all ski but there seemed loads of places far and wide to ski.
Mayrhofen, on the main mountain is a nightmare if you have a beginner or inexperienced skier that is nervous of road trail links!!

Thanks for that, I will forward the details to our delegated 'Ski guide', he's always done a good job in the past. Best he gets piste studying or something that sounds similar!!

Soll for me. Done Austria loads of times and love the place, but this is 'New Territory' to us.

Its just getting to the time that even as a 50 year old I start to think of my ski trip in the New year and get EXITED!!
Counting down the days till January 23rd!!

Last year we went with 3 families for Xmas at Mayrhofen in a Chalet. Had a fantastic time made better by the efforts of the Chalet staff. We had 2 kids with us that were Xmas believersish. We had an evening Xmas dinner with other folk staying in the chalet, some of which were Aussies in their 20's. Everyone loved the fact there were two Kids and to see there faces when the presents were given out. All made the effort to be Christmasy Childish to get into the spirit of the day. Silly hats and abit of fancy dress on the slopes added to the atmosphere.
Word of warning it didny affect us as we were eating at Chalet but it was hard for some to get a table to eat in the town on Christmas day night!!
Alot of hungry bears needed feeding!!

My niece 21 years old is going with a group to Kaprun at the end of November. I thought streuth they are taking a chance but that was until I relaised it was a glacier. She is snowboarding having only had one week before in Andorra. She is booked into have a whole day tuition at Hemel Hempstead soon. Anyone got any pointers as the ski areas or the best places for Apres!!!
