Where to go in Andorra
Started by User in Andorra, 37 Replies
Arrived home an hour ago, from Soldeu. All I can say is that we all (9 of us) had an absolutely fab time. The skiing was excellent (baring in mind that all the resorts are linked now and it has been a record start to the season as far as the snow is concerned). The apres ski was brilliant...my OH ended up playing sax with the ski instructors bands on a couple of nights. The locals are friendly and NYE was fantastic. We were all very drunk and dancing until the early hours.

Soldeu is much prettier than Pas but not the prettiest compared to other resorts I've visited. I wouldn't recommend this resort to advanced/expert thrill seekers but for intermediates is fab.

The Bruxelles was where we stayed...rooms very basic but warm and very clean. Evening meals were excellent but breakfast was toast, cereals and coissant only. The hotel is a five minute walk to the gondola but it's uphill and a killer if you are in ski boots and hungover! My advise if you are going to stay there is hire a ski locker, there are plenty in the gondola station.

All in all we have just had one of our best ski holidays so far and we have had many to compare. thumbs up from me for Soldeu!!!

What are the smoking laws in Andorra ???????

Was there last year, and, it's allowed everywhere.

Sorry guy's too subtle, the gag was about snowb4ndit and her " halfpipes " sorry

...I got it Ian!

Apres ski was fab last night (NYE). Still managed to be on the slopes at 10 am despite 6 hours worth of alchohol. I´m afraid I was bambi on skis today and there were certainly no half pipes on my aganda today!

Ski school at Whistler, advice needed!!!

gotrav1 wrote:Hi All,

Will be travelling to Whistler in January for 5 days and am unsure which type of ski lessons to go for.

By way of background, I've only been skiing once before (3/4 days at Val d'Isere earlier this year). I had 3 lessons there , two group and one private. I picked it up quite quickly and by the end of the trip could comfortably ski all the 'greens' and easy blues at the resort (not sure how they compare to Whistler). Looking at the Whistler ability chart I'd probably say I'm just above a 3 but not a 4.

I'm not sure whether to book my self in the 3 day Esprit group or whether to go for the supergroup (was thinking beginners group (for levels 1-3) for the first day, followed by intermediate (for levels 4-6) next 2 days). I'd book the half days if I opt for the supergoups.

As I'm travelling alone, I like the fact that Esprit is more social but I'm just concerned I won't progress as quickly (as it is a group of up to 8ppl of varying standards). I'm only there for 5 days so I know I'll be disappointed if by the end of day 3 I feel like I haven't advanced as quickly as I would have liked.

Just looking for some advice from people who have either attended any of these courses or from experienced skiers.

Many thanks :)

I was there last year...ski school is very good. I'd go for level 3 if I was you, they will definitely assess your ability and move you up or down according to your ability.

Relax, you are going to have a absolutely fabulous time. It will be worth every penny!
