Le Lac is not open yet - central Val Claret is heaving, but it looks like they are getting ready to open the chair up towards the glacier now. |

No Tony, This is the run down from the glacier to the resort of Val Claret. Tignes are having a bit of a problem at the moment with too much snow and too windy. The cable car broke down on Saturday (7 hours to rescue occupants!), the visibility up high was atrocious, not sure what if any lifts were open above 3000m - so ..... First real Sunday of the season and this was about all there was available. Today it looks like all they have open so far is the nursery slope - you want carnage! have a look at that one. :-o http://www.tignes.net/fr/ski-a-tignes/webcams-290.html |

Well done.....
I really mean that, a tough decision but hopefully one that means that when you do go everything works and you can enjoy many more amazing ski trips over the years to come. I'd do a big hug emoticon if there was one i knew how to use. :-) |

Snow forecast, freeze/thaw level etc going up and down like a yo-yo at the moment.
The high pressure stuck over central/eastern europe seems to be shifting but putting up a fight. Andy - I'd still pack my shorts if I were you  |

Spot on Jon
I enjoy getting excited about the first snow falling and runs opening etc. but in my 5 seasons in the Tarentaise there was skiing before xmas (of any reasonable quantity/quality) before Xmas/new year in 3 and not in 2. In 1 year you couldn't ski back to LA 1600 until 2nd week in Jan. Chair lifts down was the way to get back from the snow. |
