Mr bum, looking at the website it now appears that Nendaz is, for the first time this season, linked by lift and ski to the rest of the 4 Vallees. Is that so? Can't wait to get there.
(sorry for the fomal salutation, but we've not been introduced :) ) |

They've done it up since I stayed there in 1978 - it was a drab old dump in those days!

Do people really turn up at airports overseas with no onward travel booked or planned? No problem if your resort has a railway station but otherwise: MADNESS!

Wengen is central to the Jungfrau region, meaning the slopes shared with Grindelwald and getting to Murren are relatively easy. But the access to any of the slopes is slow - either through the torpid Mannlichen gondola or up to Kleine Scheidigg by railway. It is a beautiful area but does have a pace all of its own - and those who love it say the time spent on the trains is part of the appeal. Somehow I don't think you'd be one of them, Tone! Murrren is magnificent ski terrain but again it takes a long time to get to the top. Grindelwald's First ski area would be quite a jaunt from Wengen. I liked the Jungfrau atmosphere but I have to say if mileage is what you're after, you might be better going elsewhere.
However, someone else may be along in a bit with some different viewpoint... |

Or win a holiday, on J2Ski, to Swisserland! :) |

Busy slopes then? -)

Tony, I've been keen to see your report so thanks for this comprehensive effort.
I've been equally keen to try St Moritz since I stayed in Celerina for the skeleton world cup. I remember the drive over the Julier Pass in an ageing Land Rover Defender during a blizzard was quite something! Your report has whetted my appetite although I've never much fancied the Club Med concept in France, particularly. I look forward to the photos. |

Sorry to add to the confusion but if I were coming all the way from Canada, I'd be disappointed to end up in Pila. It's small and rather limited. Fine for a day trip from Courmayeur or La Thuile but not my suggestion to anyone as a base for the whole trip. I think you'd be better off in the Dolomites (but if it were me, I'd go to Swtizerland anyway!) I can see the sense in being based in Aosta but there's obviously very little ski resort ambience there!
