Tone, I reckon your £1,000 for a ski week is about right.

Out of interest, I totted up what it cost for two of us to ski for a week in Alpbach two seasons ago:
Airport car parking - £35
Flights - LGW to Innsbruck - £70 with air miles
Ski carriage - £76
Bus fares - airport to railway station and return - £4
Train fares - return - £36
Lift passes - £320
Ski/boot hire - £70
Lessons - £135
B&B - £260
Lunches/dinners/drinks - approx £240

So all in, for two of us, less than £1,250 all in. Easily, and without doubt, the best value ski trip I've ever had!
Should I stay or should I go now......

I'd normally say go...but it is Les Deux Alpes which puts a slightly different complexion on things!
Late season snow conditions

Take lots of money!
In fact, I've spent more than £82 in an hour on some outings!
£82 for a day out - I've had far more expensive days out in this, and other countries!
The third building down on the left of your picture used to be Il Lampione (could still be, for all I know!), a lively bar that opened late into the night! My head hurts at the memory!
Wengen?

I personally wouldn't choose the Planibel; a bit to Eastern bloc for my tastes. The Boton D'Or or the Du Glacier are much better options. I was going the first week in March to the Boton D'Or (good price on Booking.com) until I won my Swiss trip! I'd recommend B&B in La Thuile; excellent choice of quality yet very good value restuarants.

Have you dismissed La Thuile from your shortlist, Tone? I liked it, a bigger ski area than it looks on the map (get a French one from La Rosiere, the Italian map is crap) and very easy away days to Courmayeur and Pila (neither of which would suit you, or me for that matter, for a week).
