Morzine snow conditions
Started by User in France, 23 Replies
It hasn't changed all that much. There was some rain at lower altitudes and strong winds at higher altitudes. But some snow is on the way (lets hope without wind) and next week is expected to be cold. Not sure if it gets as cold as promised (I see on snow-forecast that freezing level has been revised somewhat) but colder than it is now is already good - especially if the coming snow storm starts warm and ends cold.

Excellent timing! I am also planning to buy some euros for summer travel as I hop to France quite often. I hardly ever do it, but 30% is 30% :)

Our ski industry is doing well enough. It has never been a cheap country anyway, so not much has changed. SNB stopped interventions to keep franc down so it went up. let's see what the value will be when dust settles. Day traders must be having a good day today.
Good news regarding snow!
Winterburg is too low for any decent skiing this season. Not worth the money IMHO. Amsterdam-Geneva-Chamonix is doable in just little bit over. Easybus now provides very cheap transfers from GVA to Chamonix too.

........... and this week's winner of the Optimist of the Week award is Verbier Ski Bum:lol:

I am a realist and don't like giving people false hopes but at the same time don't like unnecessary doom and gloom because resorts ARE open and there IS snow to ski, though probably not to front doors, as for off-piste it's better to stick to low-angle, low-consequences slopes and rolling hills rather than big faces for the time being. I see the weather every day, and mountains are in under 2 hours drive, so it's fairly safe to say what the conditions are now and what the snow is like.
Down the road from where? Bit far from Amsterdam :)
200 euros on easyJet direct return to Geneva. "Cheap and expensive" are very relative terms, but I think if you are willing to travel just for a day of skiing and book at short notice, this is plenty cheap.
