Well .....
I cannot and would not recommend any particular ski but with what you have said I should think any biggish shop will have several ski packages that would suit and in your budget.
Graphics is probably going to be the big attraction.
If you took what you have told us here to a shop and asked what they would recommend I feel prety confident you will have success.

Aaaaah!! What a great Mum!!
Now - to help, I reckon we need a lot more info.
What size is he?
How fit and sporty?
How much skiing has he done?
Would you say that he skis like a child or "adult", and I'm sure you can tell the difference, is there any elegence or technique in his skiing or is he like most kids which is more of a crash it down the hill all things flying and a big grin on his face?
What is the budget (inc. bindings)?
What are HIS skiing aspirations at the moment?
Racing, park, powder?

1 - how many weeks will he ski this year?
2 - this years skis may last next season, or he may have a growth spurt!
3 - I'm not trying to disuade you from a wonderful present but ......

At his age I would be investing in top quality hire skis. Get him on a few different models/types and see what makes a difference to his skiing and pleasure. Swap them around during his skiing, let him experience the differences and variety before buying.
This is the "sensible" approach but no one but yourself can judge the pleasure all round in your son owning his first skis!

Well done Snapzzz!
I am actually impressed with your ability to ski on your third week with that silly box stuck on the end of a pole.

When are you going to post the falls !!!
Les gets season

Anywhere with a resort height of 1600/1700m and skiing of 2500m plus should be fine in early April.
This is French Alps heights, other countries are available to ski says I before the Austrian lovers jump in (where reliable snow holds at lower levels)!!

Les Gets is quite low and looking at the snow history it's about 50/50 whether runs back to resort will be open first week in April.
There will be skiing but it is impossible to predict the quality and quantity of snow/pistes open etc.
My view - it's a bit low for a late season holiday.
