Big Snow In The Pyrenees
Started by User in Ski News, 11 Replies
I'm going to Soldeu in the Granvalira in just over a week. Went 5 or 6 years ago and was surprised how well they coped with a bad snow year because they really made a lot of snow. This year there seems to be an abundance so unless there is a radical heatwave next week my friend who said it never snows in the Pyrenees may have to eat his words!

Does the carre neige cover you for repatriation? It'll get you off the mountain and get you treated but you'll still need cover to get you come if you aren't able to get home under your own steam.

Even when the runs back into Sauze itself have gone you don't have to get a bus back to Sauze. You can go down on the Clotes chair back into Sauze itself.
Sunglasses V's Goggles

I have to say I prefer sunnies unless it's snowing. Many sunglasses are simply too dark - OK in the middle of a sunny day but as the light fades they are a pain.

I wear the goggle when it's snowing because the snow somehow gets behind the glasses and it's difficult to wipe the inside whist skiing - goggles only get snow on one side but do restrict your field of view.

13 to go. Probably 12 as the flight departs Birmingham at 7 am!
I would think that downhill skiing would be more comfortable than cross country or snow shoeing because well fitting ski boots should restrain your ankle much more and limit twisting than the boots for the other activities would.

Some physio may help but the pain from injuries like this can take quite some time to settle fully and providing your physio/Dr is happy that it's adequately healed then getting back to activity in spite of the pain can help recovery and ultimately for the pain to lessen.
Not convinced the new layout works as well on a PC as the old - haven't tried it on my phone as yet but not convinced that the concept of a forum is that well suited for use on a mobile in general because it requires input which is far faster on a keyboard than a smartphone but that's my opinion and I'm sure many to contribute via smartphone.

I guess a tractor and a long rope would make for an improptu rope tow!
