Try the Chalet Edelweiss in Itter, I highly recommend it (and they have a great bar in the basement so you can have a night out without actually going out).

Temps look like they're dropping here and over there later this week with a bit of snow - yay! |

I was disapointed this year because of work commitments in January that meant I can never go at that time of year (unless I leave), although I'm tempted to ask the question anyway seeing as everyone else is taking time off at one of our busiest times of year. Grumble grumble.
I hope it works out, I'm happy to do research for accommodation flexibility in advance and add to the pot. There's no reason why there can't be two trips, not that I'm expecting Ally to set up a travel agents, I love organising. It's what I do (and clearly work can't manage without me for a week in January). |

Thanks SC, can you recommend anywhere for lunch in Les Arcs?

Hi Karen, I stayed in Itter last March. There is very little in the village, a tiny supermarket that sells the basics, a ski shop and a couple of hotels, the nightlife is non existent.
We did have an apres evening in Soll, the taxi back was about 12 euros and not far at all. If you aren't near the gondola and in the village itself there are two options for getting up the mountain; you can either ski across a field which can take 20 minutes (there is a drag lift which will get you some speed at the beginning) or get the bus, of which are few and far between and is usually packed. We chose the bus option after the first day of trying to ski over, it's quicker for a start, despite being full of school kids as well as skiers, it takes literally a few minutes. Where are you thinking of staying in Itter? |

Just for the record, I'm still interested, potentially have an additional two with me and Mr Nelly, one is a total beginner but she plans on having lessons before we go, although she said that this year and didn't get anywhere, the other is a boarder, but never mind, although he did say he might try skiing so they can learn together.
Look forward to hearing about this year's trip and hope that the 2014 trip isn't cancelled before the 2013 has finished. |

Excellent. I love it when a plan comes together.
Ally, you and me alike - I always fall over in the lift queue. |
