Zilpha7 have alook at Schladming. We are a group of similar age (well some of us are over 50) and have been there for 5 years on the trot so it must have something going for it. Less than 75 minutes coach from Salzburg and you can get there by train in a similar time. Breaking with tradition this year and going to Soll!!

Skigirl, I have recieved an e-mail from a very happy 'camper' who had Xmas at Soll in the Postwirt where we are staying. They all loved the place. Our hotel is in the town centre and they say the gondolla is a 7/8 minute walk from the hotel, so im not sure where all the bad press about the gondolla being a necessary bus ride away comes from. I understand there are a couple of bars by the gondolla when you come down to wet your whistle, before having a small stretch out walk before either returning to hotel or having an apres drink or 2!
AS stated there is plenty of storage options at gondolla area for those who do not wish to carry their skis around. If I here any other info I will post it. I know they had another 15cm snow over 1st and 2nd Jan :-) |

Thanks for that, we are staying at the Postwirt. From the reviews I have read it seems to be a nice place. The more I read into Soll it seems to very simlar as ski area to Schladming. Similar altitude which I accept is relatively low. Schladming has over 600 snow cannons, so they have never run short of the white stuff even during that mild winter 2/3 seasons ago.
Vasy array of pistes that need to be explored. |

Not long now, 23rd of January will soon be here, and the trapped nerve seems to have cleared(fingers crossed!!)
Anyone know what the transfer time is from Innsbruck to Soll? I've only ever flown into Salzburg and Munich before on my adventures to Austria! |

Working in a ski resort is one thing, but you need to have abit of cash in your pocket to let your hair down properly. France is fantastic skiing but bars and eating out are rediculously expensive. I am slightly biased but you could do alot worse than trying Austria, numerous resorts to mention, but if there is one you like there are plenty on here that can give you information.
