Will probably be in Soll for a few days from 23rd. Maybe we'll get to watch the rugby somewhere together and have a pint, though I will be more interested in the London Irish v Leinster match obviously!

Anyone else in Soll around that time?

Wanderer - You never know our paths may cross, we are staying at the Postwirt. London Irish - Leinster kicks off I think 1800 UK time, we SHOULD!! land Innsbruck 1730 local (1630 UK) so its fair to say we will miss that game but it should be a cracker. In our group there's only me (Scarlet- less said the better) and a Tiger that are into their rugby so we may have to stick with the others to be social of course. Any bar you can suggest that we should use as a base camp. I have actually heard the bar in our hotel is half decent. Ten of us aged 40-53!! Like a laugh but our best dancing days are long gone!!

I take it this is not a resort then that Brits normally visit, hence the 6th form trip there. Seems to have plenty of snow and about 14 lifts so I am sure it will be ideal for what they need. I always thought that Switzerland was expensive to eat and drink. I hope for there sake it is not as daftely priced as France. That is why in recent years we have always gone to Austria.
Is 65 too old to try skiing?

There is no reason why they can't enjoy the experience as long as they WANT to do it and don't feel they have to. The only thing I will add which has been already mentioned is that when you begin yes you will tire quickly from picking yourself up but also from fighting the natural movements the skis want to make. Going soon it is likely to be cold and u can do alot of standing around at the beginning. Wrap up warm and they will be fine.Tell you what though if they stick it out and get the hang of it they will sleep like babies.Enjoy your time in Soll. Going soon myself and cannot wait!

The toboggan run down is a must too. Dump your ski's, hire a toboggan and get the last lift up to Hochsoll. Then after a couple of Jagertea's you can whizz down on the toboggan. Great fun.

Steve

That sounds like just the job. I haven't had the opportunity to do that after a couple of light ales on a mountain in over 20 years. Even then we did it in bin bags!!
