I have been a regular user of Skiset for several years. They are a partner of J2ski, and you should find an ad panel on this page. Look carefully when inputting your info on to skiset, and you might see a discount code, just under the DC panel.
Because I organise hire for small groups, we have hired dozens of skis between us, and never had any kind of equipment problem.

A friend had her boots taken by mistake on changeover day. An identical pair were left behind, so she took those. They were half a size bigger, so OK to use. The other boots........

Friend of mine went down the Niederau speed gun at 114 kph, two days ago. Obviously, he was snowploughing.....
Looking forward to meeting up with more international skiers there over the next couple of weeks. They will be spending some time training for the Hahnemkahn in this beginners resort.
Met some of the Austrian team last year ~ very friendly lot. Didn't seem to display too many beginner's traits though.....
I'm not planning to start wearing the helmet for skiing, not worth it for 7 weeks skiing a year. However,I don't like the incidence with tennis, and I play this for 46 weeks a year, so I might start wearing a helmet during doubles.
Skiing whiteouts (feeling sick)

Trencher has given the best clue. Ski right beside the trees. You get slope steepness definition, from the base of the trees, although that isn't absolute, only a guide. Also, there is a light interaction between the trees and the snow surface, which can give a little definition.
I would not ski above the tree line in total white out, (unless I had been caught out, of course!)

My boots have had a healthy life, and I would like that to continue. They are Raichle rear entry, single clip, model 777. From an engineering viewpoint they are the bees knees.

Two issues. The outer top of the liner rear, was rubberised/plasticised, and that has now all gone. I am currently wrapping the area, using black gaffer tape. Is there something better that I can do?

Both the heel and toes are worn, underneath. Is there a way that I can replenish the base material?
Boots are about 23 years old. Please don't wast time suggesting new ones, ~ a) there is little wrong with these, they certainly don't hold me back, b) I cannot find replacements.

All the branded merino that I have come across is made in China. My merinos, are by Kühl, mountainlife, and a couple of icebreakers, all made in China.
If they are not merino, your friends will be avoiding you by Thursday......
