Val Thorens Jan. snow and weather cond?
Started by User in France, 44 Replies
As people have said - VT is pretty snow sure. Ive been twice and am going again this Jan

As Adders "gently" hinted the OP may want to elaborate slightly?

Will it be cold? Maybe - Ive skiied in sallos and T-shirt only in January in VT but have frozzed me bits off too (but then Ive done that in Kitz too at much lower altitude)

Unauthorised absence of children

Personally I welcome that they are cracking down on this but they will never stamp it out.

I don't have kids and that is MY choice - this means I can go skiing or on other holidays at times to suit me, at less cost and wont be bothered by other people's kids in the chalet/hotel/flight etc

Will enforcement affect the holiday industry? - maybe, but less than you may think. Lots of operators actively promote that their chalets do not allow children outside of school holiday weeks. It stands to reason that they do this because their is a large market for people who want "child free" ski weeks

Basically the market provides for demand....

I'd have to disagree I'm afraid

Had my 3GS for 3 years and never updated it as the 4, 4S and 5 did nowt really (why Apple claimed FaceTime was a breakthrough was beyond me as I had a Nokia that did that over 3G (remember the first FaceTime had to be WiFi) years ago)

So I had to upgrade as my 3GS was getting old - sized up all options and went for Galaxy S3. IMHO better screen, better camera, all the apps and the maps work properly (BIG consideration for me as I rely on my phone maps c/w GPS to keep my distances right on the golf course)

Personally - and its only me experience so don't flame me. but of the dozen or so peeps I know that have/had an iPhone 5 none of them are happy (hence some of them have even got their money back and gone elsewhere as Apple haven't sorted out their issues).

Still think Apple make good kit but its no better than anyone else nowadays in this arena

I suspect that roads will be littered with idiots in their 316 and 318 pretend BMWs who cant move as it never occurred to them that buying a rear wheel drive car in the UK without winter tyres as a precaution was monumental stupidity.

Hopefully they'll keep the Metro running and I can avoid the roads anyway!

Best of Luck to you too Tony - and to everyone else who's travelling this week

Andy, have a good 'un in Val d'Isere. I've only been back 2 weeks and I'm itching to get over there again.

Cheers BB

Lift maps don't change that much, these wipes are really handy for the small expense. I would say go for it and have a couple of beers :-)

I'm with Icy on this : do both!
