VDI 2 for 1 Lift pass?
Started by User in France, 22 Replies
Not thus far - amazingly the boss thought I should do some work after being on hold for 40 mins and getting nowhere

As I need every penny to afford my VDI lift pass when its not going to be 2 for 1 I agreed with him and hung up in the hope of getting paid next week

Will be trying again in a bit

A lot of people ride chairs with the bar up in the US, but I've never heard of anyone complaining when someone on the chair wants the bar down.

We were on the East Coast though Trencher...... )

You haven't seen me ski mate - trust me, I'm bad!!!
Sorry - my bad
I've never had a fall from a lift (thank you <insert deity of choice here>) but came close last year in Killington:

The Yanks will NOT pull the safety bar down on a chair - they're more scared of getting stuck than falling out!

We took to only getting on chairs with Brits - especially the weird ones that went round corners and shook like crazy whilst doing it (weird chairs that is, not weird Brits - we didnt have a choice as they were members of our party :-)
I have got these for my trip to VDI in a couple of weeks - they physically turned up OK and the registration on the web site seemd to work but I don't know if it will actually do anything in resort!

The promise of lift pass reduction is a little misleading though - unless you're going to Pas/Soldeu you don't get one!

However I reckon the beer savings / private lesson savings will cover me and more in one week and if I fit in a second week in a qualifying resort then I'm quids in.

If it is a scam I've lost £30!

My initial problem was that Crystal wouldn't speak to me directly as I booked through a travel agent and they said all would have to go back through them.

Obviously the travel agent has less interest in "leaning" on them so I'm currently on hold to try to get through to them myself

The Crystal website does state at the bottom of the 2 for 1 page :

"* Terms & Conditions
2 for 1 list pass offer valid on bookings made after 1st November 2009.
Included on selected accommodation on selected dates.
Subject to availability, see accommodation pages for full details. Prices subject to change."

Which will be their get out clause but I will be trying hard! - I like the point from jonG that, as I havent paid for the passes yet, my booking for them will be after the qualifying period starts......

Thanks for all the comments

I will do that - and for a possible cheeky last minute trip to 3V that the missus and I are considering in March

Ive skied with all of the big operators: Inghams/Nielsen/Thomson/First Choice/Thomas Cook/Panorama etc in the past and had no bother, same great reps and great food in chalets and hotels (first time with Crystal this year).

I've looked at the independents in the past but, though I'm sure you get better service etc, not many of them have Newcastle flights and driving to Manchester for an early morning flight means diesel/hotel/parking costs for the week that tend to negate any savings.

But I'd LOVE to be proved wrong (to paraphrase Mr Keegan)
