Have you been skiing to-day?
No. Travelling all day, drinking and eating Tapas this evening. Skiing first thing in the morning in Arcalis, and then Saturday either back there or whatever is open at Pas de la Casa.
Soldeu, Pal, Arinsal - all closed due to lack of snow and not cold enough to make any.

Great to be in the mountains, have a good one.

Brilliant pics of a great skiing day. Have experience of climbing up Aladdins Couloir back in 2008 & I can tell you that the bottom short ice pitch next to the head wall is tricky to negotiate with crampons & ice axes never mind skis. The top pitch was lovely to climb through & can see why it makes for an obvious line to ski down, whole area can be prone to avalanche. Next time I visit Cairngorm Jacobs Ladder is on the list to climb.
Definitely got me thinking about reaching that level of skiing & mountain craft to be able to get down grade 1/2 gully's.

Found a funny video from the above trip, the youngsters in the vid are responsible for it ever getting published. Im the one exiting Aladdins Couloir in a blizzard. Winter in the mountains, good times. 8)

Getting fit for skiing
Started by NellyPS in Ski Fitness, 510 Replies, discussing Tignes and Val Thorens
I pretty much exercise every day & look forward to my endorphin fix. The down side to this is that I tend to train even when injured, dare say I have carried injuries around for the last twenty years. Fit for skiing? More like fit to drop. :?

Dave Mac wrote:Great info Finn. I repeatedly describe the piste map as "the worst in the world", although, I clearly don't know that.

I had a day there skiing with Admin last year, he cruised down the black runs, while at the same time, reading the piste map with one eye, his J2 ski messages with other, and texting in admonishments to J2 skiers. :-o

Dave, I bought one of the new skiwelt 3D piste maps the last time I was out there, pretty good maps for a couple euros. Makes the area much easier to interpret.
