I like to see a webcam and snow reports as well.

Information on bars and restaurants.

A forum is great (such as the one for Sauze d'Oulx) but not a deal breaker.

Good Luck
Organising a large group

Most of the tour operators rate certain resorts as 'good for groups'. I tend to believe this means that they have a large hotel to fill more than anything else.

They usually have a table telling you which weeks have how many free places. As on this link here. http://www.crystalski.co.uk/groups/groupfreeplaces.shtml This can be useful for saving the group some money.

Never take at face value how many free places are available from an operator. We've never booked a holiday with the headline amount of free places. That'll only be for a limited amount of weeks in the season and not for all resorts either.
Bye for now & any1 booked up yet?

Congratulations on the wedding. I hope you have a fantastic day.

We ski with a group and no-one has told us where the choices are yet for next year. I'm lucky enough to be having my holiday sorted for me.
The Ski Helmet Debate
Started by Admin in Ski Hardware, 491 Replies, discussing Tignes and Val Thorens
I wore a helmet for the first time this year. It was nowhere near as bad as I expected. I could hear as well, it kept my head warm. Luckily not sweaty though!

There was no way I was going to rent one though. I tried a few on in Manchester before we went. After we left one shop my husband noticed I'd developed dandruff. It wasn't my dandruff. It had rubbed off from one of the helmets I'd tried on. That made my final decision on whether to rent or buy. I felt really sick and did not want to ever again wear one someone else had been wearing.
'Thinner' Ski Socks
Started by User in Ski Hardware, 10 Replies
My parents went to Canada earlier this year. Bringing back some 'Hot Chillys' ski socks. My mum insisted I borrowed a pair as she'd found them really good. I dutifully packed them along with my usual pairs, not thinking much about it. I tried them on my first day skiing. First thing I noticed is that they were much thinner than my usual ones. Hence they were much comfier. I have thick calves and these were a godsend. I didn't use the others at all that week. I emailed the company to find a UK stockist. Unfortunately they don't have one. They can't be the only makers of 'thinner' socks. Can anyone recommend a brand that does something similar?

The most useless or naff!

Buff is a brand name. I think you have to say "Other neck warming thingies are available" :D

I seem to gain more every year. It started out as a walking neck warmer. Useful whilst skiing too. Then I discovered the Polar Buff with added fleecy bit. Perfect for skiing. Now they do UV protection buffs for summer walking. I must learn to say no. It is not necessary to buy one in each design that takes your fancy

As for most useless. I haven't succumbed to that yet.... With my fickle nature it can't be long. The sales are on soon.

EDIT: OMG, I've just been on the Buff site. They now do Dog Buffs. There's nothing I can add to that statement.
Nice one :D

I have no chance of winning so I really shouldn't be sat here planning a list of who to take
