They tightened up the rules, and as Austria is not my "Hauptwohnsitz" I get no special deals.
It's complicated 'cos if I buy 2 x Adult passes for Wildschoneau I get the 2 x kids free. But wife will not use her pass so doesn't help very much. As the boys are better we wanna ski places like SkiWelt and also Zillertal sometimes. The latter is NOT on the Allstar pass. Ideally I would get the Tirol Snow for all 3 of us. Ouch. The maths is that we need to ski around 6 full days "outside" of Wildschoneau to make it worth my while for the Allstar or 8 days for the Tirol card. Last year we didn't, but the 11 year old was a beginner and now he is capable of more. Ho hum. |

I am back making the decision about ski passes for Winter. My boys now both at a good standard, so I am guessing we will stretch our legs further afield. But both the Tirol Snow and Kitzbuhel All star ain't supercheap for the 3 of us......luckily my eldest just sneaks into the cheaper class for one more year.
Hmmmmmmmmm. |

10 mins to Hopfgarten which is why I like Niederau as well.

If you like bashing around on old snow then yeah. But I live for new snow and so it was pants. But I made the best of it :-)

3rd, 4th, 5th Feb is my "boys weekend" in Niederau. 10 of us at the moment.
I think Saturday night we might do Hopfgarten or Kitzbühel by cab to shake things up. Depends how good the snow is..... I was there at the weekend and snowline was at around 1100 metres. I hope we have a better Winter this year 'cos the last one was a bit pants really. The last proper snow was 26th January and then bugger all after that. |

Basically I just don't like pisted snow. Simple as that. Only time I enjoy pistes are when there is a ton of stuff on the edges to play around on.
Fussy? Moi? |

Boarded today. Was kinda OK I guess, but not really my cup of tea. I live for offpiste and powder so it's skiable but kinda boring for me. OK if you wanna catch a suntan I suppose.

Spoke to Dave yesterday who is there. He says the pistes are fine and useable, just turning slushy after 3pm (which is fun on a snowboard as it happens).
I will be there myself later today....driving from Munich this afternoon. No new snow forecast. Been a rubbish season frankly. The only powder day was 27th January this year (and a couple of days after that I guess). |
