Far Queue may have something there. Slushy moguls did for my mate in Ellmau. My knees were really feeling it in Are when travelling from ice (fastish) to standing water (not fastish)...the deceleration really pulled at the legs

I should imagine you're going to get lots of "it depends" answers, depending on how much it snows between now and then, given that the main attraction of Chamonix is the off piste stuff...

Having had 6 and 9 years old kids it would have to be something special to get me to walk them down and up what looks like a ruddy great hill rather than to get the same thing on my doorstep.
