There's always photos of celebrities skiing somewhere, but where they go I have no idea.

Apart from Tara PT who flies by helicopter into Courcheval. As you do.

I have some Merrells but not for stomping around resort, I bought some great boots in 1998 for £50 in Mayrhofen, they're just brilliant and will last me forever. They come with me every time. No idea what make they are though.

Saw Keith Allen at a cash point machine in Ellmau about 12 years ago. That is all.
Now that I have a lovely new iPad, I have found that this is my favourite way to view the site. Nice.

This time next week I will probably be at Pizza Hut in Ashford. If anyone can recommend anywhere else to eat close to the station please feel free.
Useful Apps

A friend of mine gave me a newspaper cutting the other day from the Sunday Times listing some useful apps for various things.

These included Alpine Replay which works out how many calories you are burning

Action Shot which is for photographing of all things, action shots, using a burst mode.

Ski Tracks for stat nerds and includes speed, distance, vertical decent, altitude, no of runs, slope angle blah blah.

Mammut Safety which gives up to date information on local avalanche risks, this requires some information locally (avalanche risk) but then uses a built in compass and altimeter to check the area you want to ski.

Ski & Snow report, which is what it says on the tin.

All are free apart from Ski Tracks.

Last year, I was hit for €5 for hot chocolates in La Plagne, €5 for soft drinks, €6.50 for large beers

We are going to La Plagne next weekend (hurrah!), so this is useful information. Thank you!

And thanks TH for the thread which has acheived what I think you set out for it to do.

Although we budget, we still pay whatever the prices are, and then moan about it after.

I've read Trip Advisor reviews on our hotel which suggest it's the cheapest bar in the village, so there's a small saving for the evening.

If I find any new info on La Plagne prices I will post it here when I get back.
