Mike, you are a man of great wisdom

Why, thank you Ian ... and I expect you are as well :D

The skill we need however, is to have our wives think this :!: That is sometimes a tall order.

But Rose brings out a good point. Select a sleigh ride which travels with the wind

... and neither is bandit or so she says. Shopping for skis doesn't count -- doesn't everyone shop for skis - the necessities of life ... that's only normal human behaviour

This means that they are both "keepers" !!!! all oxymorons aside

So Ian --- go with the sled and have the sled guy add a violinist or some source of soft music and lots of warm blankets. Mrs. W will tell everyone about her husband - "the keeper" - the thoughtful one :!: If not that, she will think you have flipped or have done something for which you need great forgiveness..... You see - we are male and therefore are not thought to be capable of this type of thinking or kindness for kindness sake.

Ian,

The first reply by Rose was what I was thinking as I read your message.

S P A ! The ladies love that stuff

I could never understand it. But it is either spa time of shopping (for her) time that will earn you points. Unless she likes the cold - stick to something special inside. Just my suggestion :D. The dog sled would be different and fun - but a spa treatment might be considered special and thoughtful.

Brucie,

The dudes and dudesses here are a friendly lot and I expect it is the only site originating in the UK where you can offer a retort of "on your bike..." to a reply you may not like, and no one will take offence. (I hope this is true or I'll be told the same thing  )

The kindness shown here can leave one gobsmacked :!:

Sorry Ian,

I had no intention to offend - which I may have done. Sorry

Christmas

My wife and I along with another couple played for a Christmas dance last week ... ballroom stuff --- waltzes, rumbas, tangos ....etc.

We took turns playing the CD player

But we had a good crowd which stayed to the end :!: They wouldn't have if we had played real instruments!!
