Hi,
Just doing some research on where to ski this winter. We (self & wife) just narrowed it down to Hintertux or Stubai areas. We are reasonably fit intermediate skiers, not concerned with nightlife. Mainly looking for good extent of slopes and lot of good cruising. Have skied in Schladming & Ischgl previously and enjoyed them but now looking to ski in a different area of Austria. Would welcome any advice or comments from members who have been to Hintertux or Stubai recently. Particular villages we have identified are Finkenberg (Hintertux) and Neustift (Stubai). Thanks |

I have been to Selva several times. Much to recommend it. Very extensive slopes, terrific scenery, attractive village. Excellent nursery slopes for beginners or loads of great cruising for intermediate skiers. Lots of Mountain Huts all over the area, mostly with reasonable prices.
It is a good base for doing the Sella Ronda circuit. Selva is neither upmarket or brash. Its a good value, civilised, low key resort. Only a few possible downsides--a sometimes dodgy snowfall record although there are good snowmaking faciities. Not much for good snowboarders |

Agree with all the comments made about Breckenridge. I have been there twice. Lots of nice cruising piste together with some more challenging stuff. Good Infrastructure on the mountains with friendly staff. Piste generally not too crowded and interesting old style western mining town atmosphere in the resort.
This year I am going to Snowmass so really hope the Colorado weather comes up trumps soon with some decent snowfalls. |

Just booked a trip to Snowmass Colorado in March. This is a special celebration trip for myself & wife. Really appreciate any comments or advice on any aspect of the mountain or resort from anyone who has been there in recent years. We are intermediate skiers.(well to be honest wife is advanced intermediate now!) |

I have been to Selva & Maddona in recent years--lots of good skiing for intermediates especially. Terrific scenery and reasonable prices also decent infrastructure on the lift systems etc.Can only speak for myself of course but personally always found the Italians helpful & polite in the hotels & on pistes etc. |

Thanks guys. I had heard of the Ischgl reputation for partying which to be honest was my the reason for considering Galtur -
As apparently it's a lot quieter and a bit cheaper than Ischgl. I quite happy to ski hard during the day, have a beer after, then good dinner maybe few more beers, then off to bed around 10:30 get ready for the next day. Interesting what you say about the ski back--I'm generally confident skier on reds but the Gondola maybe the best option. |

Yes--For the Dolomites I can recommend both Selva and Madonna. I have been to both in the past few years. If you are an intermediate skier especially ---lots of cruising Blue & red runs to explore.
Sometimes the Snow record in the Dolomites is bit iffy, however they seem to have improved their snowmaking in recent years. |
