Hi Caron.
men are simple creatures we only really like two things and they are usually along side each other... |

It would be really nice to meet up as a big group but I usually book a whole year in advance and I have already booked for 2009 - if you want to make it an annual pilgrimage I would be keen to join in anytime in 2010.
I promise not to wear a plaid skirt- I mean kilt. |

Dont know about a Scottish forum but a Scottish ski industry would be good.
How much global warming would we be able to reduce if everyone in Britain went to aviemore by train and stopped all those unnecessary flights. Why go to places that have snow and invest in the infrastructure allowing the public to get up the hill after a snow fall without having to wait for a thaw to enable the road to open? Less CO2 = more snow (perhaps) certainly we are told more CO2 = less snow and in the 20 years I have been skiing in Scotland there is definately less snow and almost exactly the same lifts as in those that were there in 1987. Whenever you are listening to the traffic report on Radio 2 and hear the Cockbridge to Tomintoul road is closed, just think of all the frustrated skiers at the snow gates down in the valley champing at the bit. Come on Alec, sod a new Parliament building in Edinburgh give us some money for snow cannons. :?: |

sorry Tino
It was the only one. I went without my camera and was given that photo by a collegue who was with me. However I always found it best to preferably invest someone else's cash in skiing:mrgreen: There are lots of rich women who go to Whistler for a vacation and I bet they will all "love your accent"! It could be a career from heaven, you saying, "buy me a beer", and her just listening.... (You may gather from that I am not Gay nor have I have ever painted my nails in; under, or over - coat. Had a sore bum once when I fell on a scottish piste which as usual didn't have the rocks covered except by a layer of hoar frost)... If Scotland ever got the amount of snow that Grouse had that day they would be open in June and still have teletext or the website claiming it was 12 inches deep. |

Hi Tino
I am so jealous, this picture was taken in the last week of October 2007 when I was on a business trip to Vancouver. It is Grouse Mountain above North Vancouver which is hidden below the clouds in the valley. The ski area wasn't open except for the sightseeing lift which is why it is untracked. The avatar is Lake Tahoe taken from Homewood ski area, which is another hidden gem in a large area. Sorry for taking so much space up in your thread but I just had to share the photo which has been my screensaver ever since, oddly the only time I ever tried to ski in powder that deep (at homewood) I kept wiping out because I couldnt see my skis! :) |
