Skied there 25 years ago, was great for us as beginners, but for experienced skiers might be limited. That being said they could have opened up all sorts of runs since.

Been there 5 of the last 6 years in January, send us a PM with your group details and I will drop you a line. You will not be disappointed.
33 more sleeps till we get to Soll. If all goes to plan we will up on the mountain after lunch on the Saturday we arrive!!!
Although I was blessed 2 years ago with fantastic snow at Xmas in Mayrhofen I think its fair to say that it is not always a guarantee in some resorts in Austria pre Xmas. Having had a quick look at the snow charts it appears that most are looking good and those which are not shown as open have had snow and are being prepared for the Xmas holidays.
5 weeks plus till Soll, so plenty of time.
I can safely say that for me Austria ticks all the boxes. Skiing is great, but you can eat drink and be merry and not fear a bank loan is desired. Used to summer holiday in France when kids were younger but it just prices itself out of contention when you want to eat and drink out. Dread to think ski resorts charge to partake in the holiday necessities.

A word of warning. I may also be slightly biased. I am not afraid of flying and not normally of gondollas but on the way the lift goes parallel between 2 peaks with a massive drop below (remember it being 1200 feet however i may be wrong). Did not notice the first few days as we climbed through the cloud but when it was clear, streuth it was beutifull but gave me kittens. If you have a nervous first timer who is not comfortable with mountains this may be the straw that breaks the camels back. Totally agree with Tony H that when you are up there the skiing is fantastic.Had to psyc myself up to go and up down every day!!!

Have a look at the Alpenhotel-Neuwirt,Schladming. See reviews on Trip Advisor including mine. We went there 4 years running. Lovely place. Only negative is its 2Ks out of town. Thee are free coaches to the hotel but that then can dictate your Apres!! Depends what your group wants. If like us there is a bit of Juvenile in you then like us last year you may find Soll to your liking. I am not saying Schladming is quiet but in comparrison to other resorts the Apres is or was.
