Snow reports - why are they different and is this enough?

:-) I think Mr Admin has already mentioned that the J2Ski hamsters are on a go slow at the moment, so that may be the issue. Frankly, I think they should sack the hamsters and employ marmottes, far more used to working in snow
On a more serious note, the depths quoted on sites often have little bearing to the pistes. Most resorts will make or move snow onto the pistes, where it is packed down to make a hard wearing, hopefully longer lasting ski surface. You will be very unlucky indeed to get no skiing at all. I would also hesitate to add, that if you "know very little about skiing", it is likely that you will be staying on the easier pistes, hopefully in lessons, and these are the areas most resorts will always try to keep open. No learner slopes = no revenue for the ski school, who then get upset with the pisteurs  |

OK, so would a needletail be too large?

Hmm, any chance it is a bunting of some description?

Hmm, may be a bit small, but how about a male ring ouzel? Is it possible the mistake you made was the white breast stripe, and not the tail?

I should have also added to my post last night, that I am glad to hear that you did not actually hurt yourself. Wait till after April to start doing silly things  |
