I was there 6-13th jan, snow was limited until we got a dump 2nd to last day. But even then the wind was too high for lift into pal to be open. I would advose taking the free bus trip to arcalis (outside main gondola in arinsal 10.30 and 14.30)early on in your stay as the skiing and views there far exceed the skiing in arinsal and it's only a 35-40 min trip. We didn't go until the 4th day in our hol and missed some great skiing.

Nightlife: el cau (cow) give away toasties with every drink from 3-6 which sets one up well for a good steamboad. El derbi is a good pub for sport and there's a mexican restaurant which had great food down a little street opposite main gondola can't remember it's name?

Have fun!! any other questions i'll try and help out?

tips for landing jumps

Good call bandit.

I was able to walk out of skis in andorra last month only to find that after a bus transfer i had picked up somebody eleses hired atomic sx8's size 168cm. They were marked by a ski shop as A1 where as mine were A2. This caused some great confusion upon return of the skis.

As for the jumping, not that i'm anywhere near to a pro at jumping, (See Ski Injuries thread) (my old school buddy andy bennett may be better suited to advise here), but

a) it's gonna be nigh on impossible to land on a ski you can "walk out" of.

b) Should you even be trying 3 feet jumps with a torn achiles? I'm told if it snaps it's very painful and at least 6months of immobility.

As for technique i'm with trencher, be ready to take the impact in your knees before landing.

Word

admin the big 500!! you've been working hard behind the scenes to catch up with the machine that is PAV!!

As long as there's snow 1st/2nd week in march i'll be happy!!

Booyah!

SKIING INJURIES!!

Hi, obviously the perpose of skiing is to enjoy the thrill of cold wind against the face when you're caining down a beautiful mountain when you're miles away from all of lifes little problems. However, with pleasure (unfortunately) must come pain. In my 6 years of skiing i've been relatively injury free until last week at x-scape when I attempted freestyle skiing for the first time.

Here is a photo of the cuts and bruises i obtained when landing on a ski after attempting some sort of tabletop with a large gap n the middle.

What i was thinking is: if people, like myself, see the brighter side of these injuries then lets get a big folder full of our cuts and bruises to peruse at our leisure.

Respect to all freestyle skiers who make it look so easy.

Please ski safely!!
Drunk Skiers Beware!!

If this kicks in on a global scale i can kiss skiing goodbye! Beer is my only source of energy on a ski holiday and is also the finest painkiller i've ever tried not to mention the old dutch courage which may be required for those double blacks!!

- SoulDrive in no way endorses the combination of alcohol and double black runs and does not recommend it to anybody.
