Ankle is healing really well, walking painlessly after a day! Can't believe it, ice and support really work! Anyway, just thought I'd take the opportunity to let you all know that I'm packing right now and going on Saturday! And by the looks of the forecast, we're in for a fresh dump!! Don't be too jealous! ;)

With 6 days to go you sprain your f@cking ankle playing footy!!!!!
Anybody experience skiing with a similar injury? If my boots are really really tight will I get away with it? Not as bad a sprain as I've had previously but pretty swollen and pretty bruised. Giving it the RICE treatment so hopefully I'll be ok....... Generally not good though. |

My serre chevalier summary:
for the more adventurous freestyle types: melezone has lots of bumps and grinds in the trees too which is awesome. Jam park up the top is split in 2 for beginners and advanced. Fast downhill types: some nice blacks around the middle of the map. Casse de boeuf was a particular fav of mine. Some nice bumps near the top right of the map if you like moguls. That could have changed since last year though? The leisurely skier: mixed ability runs all over the mountain. The explorer: you're in heaven The après skier: not an awful lot of night life, but la grotte du yeti is a pretty cool bar and gets busy at night. Plus, happy hour whenever it snows!! |

Awesome little resort and well worth the bus ride from arinsal. Some great scenery too!

get an iphone and download the "motionx-gps" app. Only £1.79 (or something like that?) and it's very good vfm! Measures top, current and average speed, distance travelled and it highlights your trails using satellite images.
Can stop to take a photo and save it to your trail and u can also listen to the songs on your iphone while using the app. More over, you can send your trails to your friends so they can follow / find your current position and if you go off the rails it has a compass (if you have a map) and locates your coordinates should you need to get in touch with mountain rescue, plus ..... it's still a phone!! Not tried it on the slopes yet but it's an excellent jogging toy. Will be putting it to use in Les Deux Alpes in March though!! I imagine if you used it all day you'd be talking to a dead phone? Battery life on iphone is poor at the best of times. Mammut Safety Inclinometer might also prove to be a useful app? Has avalanche warnings, weather forecasts etc etc... This is a free app too. |
