Well, not without it's permission anyway! I have knowingly skied in bear country, but apparently have also unknowingly skied in mountain lion country! |

I agree with those thoughts, the end of seasons had a special ambience, fewer tourists, and skiing with lots of season-friends. A wide range of conditions to consider. T-shirts and shorts ski days. End of season ski instructor race. Jokes about when we got back to the UK, would we sign on the dole as "ski instructors", thereby ensuring no jobs would be made available. (These were just jokes, I always picked up an engineering contract within a couple of days of getting back) A big feeling of melancholy on the day we had to set off home. Even now, every 2/3 years, I go out for the last 3/4 days of the season. |

Sorry, Rossie, unusually, the wind direction is rocketing from between N & E, so the snow is dropping off on our side for a change!!!! It IS cold though, even at our height the wind chill factor is enough to stir the Gnurdles. It has just started snowing on our side again, I have swimming at 9.00am, and tennis coaching at 10.00am....... building some brickwork in the afternoon, think I will be a ball of ice by tomorrow night...... |

Cairngorm report was promising, loads of snow, unfortunately, 45mph winds. So the top is iffy, the gulleys are great, ridges sparse. The snow cannon is working full time to try and bridge the links.
There seemed to be a note of optimism, but it is a case of wait for tomorrows report. Incredably, Helen Rennie has skied Cairngorm for 30 consecutive months! The Lecht is scheduled to open on tomorrow. |
