Snapzzz, if looking to buy skis, most good shops will allow you to "hire" whatever you are looking to purchase in order to try them out. They will usually offset this hire cost if you decide to purchase.
Another thing I have seen recently is for a shop to have a station on the mountain. You can then pay a fee and try several different skis during the day. If there are some you like, I would then try them out for a bit longer before finally deciding. Personally I still rent, but will look round the resort shops before deciding where to use. I nearly always change skis during the week as well, especially if the snow conditions or weather change. |

It seems to be a break from their Experience Trips, full original post as follows Win an unforgettable city break to Switzerland from one of our Experience Packages (flights from UK to Switzerland and 2 nights including breakfast in a 4-star city hotel for two persons). We love Switzerland and would like to bring it closer to you. On facebook and twitter we entertain you with funny stories, news, unusual offers and competitions. "Like" us on our brand-new facebook page and invite your friends to do so, too. As soon as we reach the mark of 500 friends, you will automatically participate in our competition to win a fabulous city break. |

Sadly not any ski breaks, but what the heck, a free weekend in Switzerland cannot be turned down.
:( And there was me hoping I might get put over your knee at the ski show  |

Hmm, not sure if this counts as spam or not, but best give you a chance :)
If any of you use facebook, the Switzerland Travel Centre are about to do a draw for a 4 star city break weekend for two in Switzerland. Simply "like" their page and when they get 500 people they will do a draw, so basically you get a 1 in 500 shot of winning the weekend. Good luck people, link to page follows. http://www.facebook.com/switzerlandtravelcentre Apologies to Mr Admin if this is a naughty post. |

Have to agree with Calvahead here, my walking boots have never been brilliant in snow, including my current ones which are Salomon Quests.
Given that you actually want walking boots, I would just go with whatever you are comfortable in (most important) and live with their performance in snow. I doubt they are going to be a complete wash out. Alternately, just get something cheapish which are dedicated for snow and keep your walking boots for proper hikes. |

Hi Tropicana, you cannot upload a video directly to the forum, it needs to be hosted somewhere first then you can link to it.
Possibly the easiest option would be to create an account on YouTube and upload the videos there. YouTube has the ability to be embedded into a post on this forum, an example being the post by daved, which could have been embedded like this... Doh! helps if I actually paste the vid link in  |

It's been quite a few years since I made it to the show, so perhaps it is time to wangle a day out of work and see what new gear is to hit the slopes next year.
