At the top I thought my edges were in an ok condition. At the bottom I thought edges, what edges?

I skied the Face the day after the Mens Super G last December, talk about squeaky bum time! It had a distinctively blue tinge to it.
One of the worlds best runs, but I'd recommend doing it in normal conditions! I was intermediate the first time I skied it years ago, well worth a go later in the week if the conditions are good and you're confident.

La Sache is a great run, just watch the conditions on the lower slopes. Lower league than the Face, so try Sache first and work up to Face.

Get over to Fornet, via the scare chair. Best snow in the area at the top but it's always colder in the Fornet valley for some reason.

Make this place your last stop of the day for a drink before skiing back to your accommodation.

Lift Pass Prices

I've done a bit of checking of how lift pass prices compare across European resorts. With the shift in exchange rates of the last few years, lift passes have become an ever more expensive part of the holiday cost. I hope all are 11/12 prices, apologies for any errors!
Some interesting comparisons:

I've not stayed there, but have a couple of time in a chalet very close to it.
I think you'll have a walk of about 50m to the piste and a short ski down to the Almes lift, which takes you up a short way. From the Almes run you can access most of the Tignes Le Lac main lifts. (Spot your return route for later from there.)
Skiing back if you can't ski to door, it will be very close, all the properties in that part have good access from the pistes.

Great video, you really get an idea of the scale.
Val Thorens - Apres Ski Prices

Trying to remember the name of the place we used in January, will have to ask one of the others. Beers were €6 a pint or €3.50 during happy hour which I think was between 6 and 7.30
Morzine or Val Thorens

If you ski to Courchevel 1850, go under the bridge and stop at the restaurant immediately on your left at Le Kudeta, you'll get a superb meal at a very reasonable price. It's a perfect place to stop if you're skiing across from Val Thorens. Ended up eating there twice if not 3 times in January.
A rep pointed it out to us that last time we were there, 3 or 4 years ago. The reps are all on a budget, they know all the value for money stops.

Dave Mac wrote:Andy, at Les2A, can a novice safely negotiate off the easy slopes down to the valley? If so, that may well be the good suggestion.

Yes there's a blue all the way down. I've not skied there, so my recommendation is based on what I've been told. A good friend has skied there on several occasions so I've got a good source of information.

The reason I haven't been there is the same reason I'm recommending it, a high proportion of the high altitude skiing is on blues.
