Meribel Motterat, from there you can get to any point in 3V within an hour.

Awesome ski area, went there in 2015.
Buses between the villages were excellent, don't really see the need for a car unless you want to visit another ski area.

You're going to the perfect resort for a big confidence boost. Soldeu has miles and miles of easy blues. Ski Schools there are excellent, they'll have clocking up the miles in no time.
Piste grading is very generous, most of the Reds would be blue in France.

Looking promising now, several bands of snow heading towards Meribel where I'll be this time next week.

Off to Meribel in just over a week, forecast looks pants. Only trip this season, looking to be a big disappointment.

Can only comment from observation as I have my own skis, but from those in the group that do hire there does seem to be quite a bit of difference between the cheapest and the middle level hire skis. Less convinced that 'premium' skis are that much better than 'gold'.
I'd suggest you upgrade for a day and find out for yourself.

Have stayed there several times, pretty good base. Used to sleep 30, not sure what they've done to it ti half the capacity.

I've already booked two big group trips for 2017 at this year's price.
