If the majority of tourists are priced out of the market the effect on the local economy would be catastrophic.

You will still be able to access both areas, you'll just need both passes. All depends on what that will cost of course.

Final details sorted for holiday to Niseko Japan and deposit paid. 16 of us going!
I'm a tad excited about this one! |

The guiding service is a big part of why many join the SCGB, it'll be interesting to see what effect this has. I know several people who make extensive use of the service, it'll certainly make them less enthusiastic about France.

Anyone booked up yet? Where are you thinking of going?
I'm looking forward to warming up the legs in Alpe D'Huez in January before ticking one off the bucket list with 10 days in Niseko Japan in February. Going to need to get properly fit for this winter! |

They won't be happy, several have invested in property in other parts of 4 Valleys, particularly Nandez.

Yes, if I was planning on going there in 2015, I'd put it off for a season. I wouldn't want to risk not having access to the whole area.
I think there is a good chance of a resolution before 30th June, the other resorts have too much to lose and will have to back down and accept Verbier's terms. |

The SCGB guiding and ski hosting are quite different.
Calling the SCGB service hosting isn't right, nor is saying they don't tackle difficult slopes. They regularly spend the whole day off piste. If there is a concern with safety, it is with SCGB reps, while well trained and experienced, taking people off piste where they have little local knowledge. Ski hosting on blues and reds is a completely different thing, much lower risk and doesn't require hosts to be instructors. |
