Hey guys, look on the bright side. The snow will be completely fresh and unskied by eejits if it arrives the week before you go
Oh, I should also add, that be prepared for a shock. The ski shops in Wengen were possibly the most expensive I have come across, with some items priced at three times the price I have seen in the UK (ie £1500.00 for a pair of Volkl Skis I could buy for £495.00).

I did not go shopping in Interlaken, but I have been told it is a little cheaper down there. Cannot help with anywhere else though, we drove straight through without stopping.
Hi Carv, I was in Wengen last season.

There is practically zero skiing actually in the town itself, from memory just a single beginner area, and the bottom end of a trail to allow skiing back into the town.

To access the ski areas, you need to either get the gondola from the centre of the town, or go up on the train. The train is much slower, so best to get the gondola, and if you want to get over to the Kleiner Sheidegg side, simply ski across and get a chairlift back up to it.

If you want to ski the Murren side (which you should try early on in case you like it and want to return) you need to get the train from Wengen down into Lauterbrunnen, then the gondola up the other side of the valley. Likewise for Grindelwald, get up above Wengen, then ski all the way down into Grindelwald, then it is a bus transfer to the gondola up to the first ski area. There is some excellent skiing in all three areas, so it is worth trying them all out.

I am not the greatest photographer in the world, but if you want to see roughly what is about, here is a link to my facebook album from last year..

Not marketed by any TO's that I'm aware of.

Given that Crystal advertise here on J2Ski I am sure Mr Admin will not mind me linking to them, but Crystal do holidays in Folgarida, and I have been looking at the area too.

Ooo, just imagine Christmas Lunch in the Piz Gloria, watching Europe rotate round you as the lunch goes by.

Then at the end of the lunch, as the bald gentleman hands you a stick of tnt, with the comment "Your cracker Mr Bond!", you hurl yourself down the Shilthorn piste

Who needs a traditional film on Christmas day.

Murren would be a fantastic place to spend Christmas.
