I second Julia Moss. Get the Monts de La Lune pass and there will be more than enough skiing.

You get:
Claviere every day for cheaper and better lunches.
A day on the Milky Way
and a Day Free day in Serre Chevalier if you are getting bored.
Actually you can get days in another 4 resorts as well, but you'd need a car.

Do the chalet operators offer ski hosting? it's worth it to get your orientation.

Unless something really really drastic happens, you will be fine.
Turn off your Data and use Wifi only.
Buy a local pay as you go phone to make local calls.
Also friends and family can call you on it without you having to pay the UK -> CH piece.
Use Skype to call home.
Gutted, trip cancelled.

Now that IS a bummer.

We have a few come with us every year because of the on-piste hosting.

There's a few forums for solo skiers.
check out http://www.skipals.com.

and remember it's ski buddy not ski bunny.

It's my fault...

I put my snow tyres on at the beginning of November this year because I was caught out last year. They've now melted and stuck to the tarmac. ;-)

Stateside looks like the place to be this year for mucho neve.

What to buy to replace them is the question.
