Any recommendations for the cheapest transfer to Les Carroz from Geneva Airport?

The prices you've found are the going rate.
Your choices are the public bus (Altibus) but they will drop you off in the centre of town, not at your accommodation. That is likely to be your cheapest bet. Alternatively there are quite a few private transfer companies. It's cheaper to opt for a shared transfer but you may have to wait for up to an hour at the airport, rather than a private transfer. Last year when I searched for Flaine transfers, GO Massif were cheapest and were reliable. Alp -line are also very reliable, but were a little more last time. Advantage of the private route (over the public bus) is that you get dropped off at and picked up from your accommodation, and aren't reliant on waiting for 'timetables'. |

My advice - don't waste your money going to a mega resort at this stage. You won't get value for money from the big Tarantaise resorts. Save them for when your son has 7 or more weeks under his skis. I love the 3Vs and the other Tarantaise rssorts are superb, but a waste for beginners, IMO.
Also as a 6 yo your son will need a long break at lunch if you are not to wear him out. Find some slopeside accommodation so he can have at least 90 minutes off over lunch. Find a smaller less expensive resort, or if you want to go slightly larger, Alpe d'Huez has masses of greens around the village for building confidence. To back up Bandit, get him on a slope before you go too, be it indoor or plastic. Our 'local' slope offers Saturday morning lessons for c£11 for kids, and gives them a great grounding. |

Although expensive, it is a fantastic resort with excellent skiing and spectacular scenery.

December really is the month that the sticking plasters run out. If the politicos sort it out this week then it will continue, if not then Greece will default and be kicked out. There will then be a split, but the markets may still hunt down France.

Is the Bistro du Praz still going? Long, long, long lunches followed by taxi rides home used to be had there!
There also used to be an excellent restaurant for evening meals in the village just below 1300. Can't remember the name I'm afraid. |

OA - mention of the Rastro brings back memories - way back in the early 1990's it was, shall we say, a lively spot in the evening!

Staying in La Tania you have very easy access to Meribel as the village on half way along the road from C1300 to Meribel, and the lifts take you to the ridge betweeen the two valleys.
It used to be that a valley pass plus one day extension cost more than a 3V pass - I suggest checking that online. |
