Mmmmm, Tiroler Groestl, I love it!

I think you are right. The prices will have been set when the Euro was at a different level, so I imagine there will be room for prices to come down.
I have done my main diy, but have another TO, and a diy to arrange. |

I skied both areas last winter. Both good, and both had their distinctive qualities. On balance, I would return to Obergurgl.
I did get a good TO Obergurgl price, bit confess that I used a bit of guile in obtaining that! Unfortunately, in normal circumstances, I choose not to stay in chalets, so I am unable to offer direct help. Other than to say, that I would always prefer to do my own research. Where ever you choose, have a great ski! |

Indeed, you have fine taste, sir. |

Snapzzz and Jon sum it up well. You fall into a critical group, that includes me. I fly from Edinburgh. We share the dilema of limited flights.
I have recently done a really low cost diy New Year deal to the Skiwelt, and a slightly more expensive visit to the Wildschönau. (Still cheaper tha using a TO.) You do have to do the research, though. When thinking about holiday pressure, do not think about UK circumstances. The demand travels from Europe to the Urals. There is immense demand at New Year. A friend recently tried to book into my regular place in the Wildschönau for New Year. It was full, but I was able to steer him into a good place. It can get very difficult. |

Hi there,
Welcome to J2ski. The piste map was made knownon this site at: http://www.j2ski.com/ski_resorts/Austria/Ski_Jewel_Alpbachtal_Wildschonau_Piste_Map.html This winter represents 43 years since I first skied in Niederau, and that includes four seasons working for the ski school. Over recent years, I ski there 3~6 weeks a year, so I guess I know a fair bit about the place. I am happy to answer any specific questions you have, as much as you wish. I now prefer to do this by PM. The reason is, there is on J2ski one person who persistantly denigrates Niederau at every opportunity, hence I try to limit these opportunities by staying private. Having said that, fire away! (by PM) I love Niederau, and will spend as much time as you like to help with information. |
